For this kitchen, we bumped out the back wall of the house by 4 feet to expand the kitchen and create room for a 5 x 10 island with island seating. Because the house was a 2 story, we had to temporarily support the upper floor load to remove the lower floor wall while a giant beam was installed to redistribute the second floor load to the new foundation.
